Earlier this week, we were contacted by a gentleman living in Calahonda who had read about our “Touch of Kindness” campaign — the initiative that helps install defibrillators (AEDs) in vital locations across the Costa del Sol.
His name is Gerry, and his story is both personal and powerful. While in London, Gerry suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. Thanks to the immediate response of a bystander and the availability of an AED (automated external defibrillator), his life was saved.
That life-changing moment sparked a mission — not just for Gerry, but for his entire family.
Alongside his wife, Jenny, his son Alex and Alex’s partner, Fleur, his daughter, Charlotte, and her husband, Ben, and his five grandchildren, Gerry has launched a heartfelt campaign to get defibrillators installed throughout Calahonda.
The whole family is involved. Even the grandchildren are making bracelets to sell at local charity fundraising events. As Gerry puts it:
“The importance of my family in this is everything. I wouldn’t be able to do this without them.”
Support is already building. A local doctor who carries a defibrillator in his car has offered help, and Gerry has meetings scheduled later this month with local administrators to identify public locations for installation.
If you would like to support Gerry’s campaign or help get AEDs into your own community, please contact Kelly at Mediterranean Homes, and she will gladly pass on Gerry’s contact details.
At Mediterranean Homes, we’re proud to support families like Gerry’s who embody the true spirit of community care. If you live in Calahonda or anywhere along the Costa del Sol, this is your chance to help make a real difference.
